National Plan to Reduce Violence Against Women and their Children 2010-2022

The Office of Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Reduction and the Minister for Territory Families provide representation to and progress actions for the Australian Government regarding the National Plan to Reduce Violence Against Women and their Children  2010-2022 (the National Plan) in the Northern Territory.

The National Plan is a 12-year strategy that seeks to achieve a significant and sustained reduction of violence against women and their children in Australia.

It has a focus on stopping violence through long-term cultural change, supporting services, holding perpetrators to account and building the evidence-base to inform improved policy and service responses to violence and sexual assault.

The Northern Territory’s Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Reduction Framework 2018-2028 – Safe, Respected and Free from Violence aligns with the intention and commitments of the National Plan.

Under the National Plan, the Office of Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Reduction provides Northern Territory membership and representation to:

• Australia’s National Research Organisation for Women’s Safety (ANROWS)
• Our Watch – the Foundation for the Prevention of Violence Against Women and their Children.
