Library and Archives NT

Library and Archives NT (LANT) is the Territory’s ‘state library’ and ‘state archives’.

LANT collects and preserves the Territory’s documentary heritage, including published materials such as books, newspapers, journals, ephemera, film and music, and unpublished materials such as the Northern Territory Government archives, personal and organisational records, photographs and oral histories. LANT shares this history through its extensive digital collections, an active events and exhibitions program including the permanent A Territory Story exhibition, research inquiries services, social media and education programs.

In partnership with local governments LANT also develops public library services to meet the needs of the Territory’s diverse communities. Connected Communities: Vision for Northern Territory Public Libraries 2017-2023 sets a strategic direction for LANT’s engagement with public libraries.

LANT provides service to the public through the NT Library at Parliament House; the NT Archives Centre in Kelsey Crescent, Millner; at the Alice Springs Reading Room at 58 Hartley Street; and through a range of online channels.
