Four new Specialist Disability Accommodation dwellings to be constructed

Published

The NT Government is committed to providing sustainable and appropriate housing for vulnerable Territorians.

Following a Request for Proposal, local non-government organisations, Life Without Barriers and Carpentaria Disability Services, were selected to construct Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) dwellings on four parcels of land in Darwin’s northern suburbs.

SDA is accommodation for Territorians who require specialist housing solutions, so they can receive the support they need to live in the community.

The four parcels are conveniently located close to parks, schools, shops and the Royal Darwin Hospital.

Both Life Without Barriers and Carpentaria Disability Services will manage and oversee the construction process, provide support services to the people living in the house and manage all property upkeep.

TFHC is incredibly proud to be supporting this project, which recognises the importance of providing greater housing and life choices for members of our community with a disability.

Construction is anticipated to commence in the fourth quarter of 2021, with dwellings to be occupied by early 2023.
