#BreakTheBias this International Women’s Day

Published

Join in on the International Women’s Day activities happening over the Northern Territory throughout March.

The hashtag theme for International Women’s Day 2022 is #BreaktheBias. To bridge the gender gap and move closer to equality, we must break away from gender bias, discrimination and stereotypes. Individually we are all responsible for challenging discrimination and bias.

Every year on 8 March, we celebrate the gains made towards gender equality and reflect on what inequalities still need to be addressed. It is a time to honour and celebrate women, those who have come before us, those who contribute every day to our families and our communities.

Throughout March, a variety of activities are being held across the NT to celebrate women's social, economic, cultural, and political achievements.

The events kick off on:

  • 4 March in Darwin on with the No Woman Left Behind Conference
  • 5 March in Alice Springs on with the Equal Futures Fair
  • 8 March in Katherine with the International Women’s Day walk and painting of signs.

Remote locations get to join in on the celebrations, with a parade, BBQ and guest speakers at Wagait Beach and more activities in Anmatjere.
