Published

The Northern Territory Youth Round Table (Round Table) recently met for their last face-to-face meeting of 2023 at NT Parliament House. As independent advisors to the Minister for Youth, Seniors, and Equality, and the Northern Territory Government, the Round Table plays a role in shaping the future for young people in the Territory.

Throughout the year, Round Table members actively participate in professional development sessions covering various topics such as team building, social media, communications, project development, and social entrepreneurship. These sessions equip members with the skills and knowledge to address diverse challenges faced by today's youth. Members also work on projects of personal interest, culminating in impactful end-of-year presentations.

During the meeting, Round Table members shared inspiring stories of their efforts to support and empower young people. Sophia Rogers from East Arnhem stressed the importance of a safe haven for youth in Nhulunbuy. Dante Rodrigues (pictured), representing Palmerston & Rural, initiated the 'One Percent Program', aiding young individuals with financial matters, employment opportunities, and mental health concerns during their transition to adulthood. CJ Rankin from Darwin shared her journey as the first Indigenous female in the Qantas Group Pilot Academy, highlighting the importance of support systems and staying connected to culture while pursuing ambitious dreams.

These stories vividly illustrate the diverse and impactful ways Round Table members contribute to youth empowerment in the Northern Territory. Their dedication and passion inspire others and significantly contribute to the overall well-being and development of youth in our community.

Farewell to the 2023 NT Youth Round Table members, and best wishes. Your remarkable efforts in shaping a brighter future for the youth in the Northern Territory are truly commendable. Thank you for your unwavering commitment and the positive impact you continue to make.
