Conditions of entry
- Performing arts include dance, music, theatre, musical theatre, opera, circus, physical theatre and comedy based on the definitions Arts NT uses for art forms:
- Circus and physical theatre encompasses both the creation and presentation of circus and physical theatre. Physical theatre is movement-based expression with or without music and with or without narrative impetus.
- Comedy includes the creation and presentation of written or spoken artistic material intended to be humorous or amusing.
- Dance includes the creation and presentation of dance, including ballet, classical, contemporary or traditional cultural dance.
- Music includes the creation and presentation of contemporary, traditional, classical, experimental, instrumental, electronic, live and recorded music and compositions.
- Musical theatre and opera includes musical performance, composition and presentation of musical theatre or opera in which there is a relatively even balance between the musical and the theatrical elements.
- Theatre includes plays and scripted work, cabaret, installation theatre performance, puppetry, media-based theatre work, live art, and contemporary inter-disciplinary performance.
- For all categories, artists can either nominate themselves/their shows or be nominated by others
- NT residents are eligible to nominate themselves, non-NT residents can only nominate NT residents
- The closing time and date for all nominations is 11.59pm, Sunday 20 October 2024. Nominations will not be accepted after this date.
- Nominees must be Australian citizens or have permanent residency status, reside in the NT and meet all eligibility criteria.
- Nominees can apply for multiple categories.
- All finalists are encouraged to attend the awards ceremony in Alice Springs on Tuesday 19 November 2024. The Department of Territory Families, Housing and Communities provides grants through the NT Arts Grants Program’s Quick Response category to assist with up to $1000 per applicant (or up to $1500 for applicants from very remote NT) to cover travel and accommodation costs for finalists who reside outside of a 100km radius of Alice Springs.
- Nominees must agree to abide by the decision of the judging panel, which is final and cannot be appealed.
- Finalists and winners must agree to have their photographs and profiles used for promotional purposes by the Northern Territory Government through its agency the Department of Territory Families, Housing and Communities.
Use of imagery
With submission of your nomination, you agree that any photographs and text provided for the nomination can be used to promote the 2024 NT Performing Arts Awards on social media, website and in media releases.
The Department of Territory Families, Housing and Communities (TFHC) respects and is committed to safeguarding the confidentiality and privacy of the information that it collects and handles, in accordance with the Northern Territory Information Act 2002.
The personal information you provide in your nomination is necessary to assess your eligibility for a NT Performing Arts Award and for related contact purposes.
By submitting the nomination for the NT Performing Arts Awards, you consent to your personal information being provided to Arts NT within TFHC and other government departments for the purpose of assessing, promoting and reporting the outcomes of the Awards.
You do not have to provide your personal information, but if you choose not to, your nomination may not be processed. Nomination information is managed in accordance with the Northern Territory Information Act 2002 (NT).
Personal information will not be disclosed other than for the primary purpose for which it was collected, unless otherwise agreed to, or authorised by law. You can update the personal information you provide by contacting Arts NT on 8999 8981.
By submitting the nomination, you consent to the nominees’ name, performance description and location to be published on the NT Government website and social media, and in a public announcement by the Minister. To assist in the promotion and development of the performing arts in the NT, information may be shared with Commonwealth, State and Territory agencies and the media.

If you have a photograph taken and no longer want it used you can contact Arts NT to advise them of this change.
