Social housing allocations and wait times

If your application for public housing is successful, you will go on a waiting list, in order from the receipt of your application.

Wait times for public housing are variable, and are influenced by a number of factors including the number of approved priority applications, and the availability and turnover of suitable public housing dwellings in each location.

Allocations from the wait list are dependent on the availability of housing stock.  This is mainly linked to the number of tenancies vacating public housing.

Further information, including estimated wait times and the number of applicants on the public housing wait list, and allocations from the wait list, are available on nt.gov.au.
