Service Delivery South staff supporting the community

Members from the Alice Springs Service Delivery South team took time to attend training sessions, supporting the Mums Can, Dads Can project – a family, domestic and sexual violence prevention pilot project being developed by the Alice Springs Town Camp community.

The project challenges gender stereotypes within the roles of men and women in parenting and builds on the work being carried out by the Tangentyere Family Violence Prevention Program.

Gendered violence is a serious issue in Australia and stereotypes are often reinforced. It is hoped that the project will influence the modelling of the next generation of parents.

Staff were provided with ways to engage with tenants to promote discussions and engage with the program with a view to making a positive change. Resources and contact information were placed on display in the Alice Springs office.
