Volunteer Promotion Program
The Sport, Recreation, and Strategic Infrastructure (SRSI) Workforce Promotion Program aims to highlight the contributions of local volunteers in the Northern Territory. Through storytelling and promotional campaigns, the program seeks to emphasise the significance of sport volunteering and recognise the dedicated individuals who play a crucial role in fostering community spirit.
There are a number of recognition events that organisations are encouraged to promote volunteer practice, achievements, and experiences in sport through:
NT Sport Awards
The Northern Territory (NT) Sports Awards recognise the achievements of athletes, coaches, sporting officials and volunteers. The awards will recognise achievements within local Territory-based, National and International sporting competitions.
NT Young Achiever Awards
The Northern Territory Young Achiever Awards acknowledge, encourage and promote the positive achievements of young Territorians (30 years of age and under). The awards provide an opportunity for young achievers to showcase their accomplishments as role models in the community.
NT Volunteer Awards
The Northern Territory (NT) Volunteer of the Year Awards celebrate exemplary volunteer work and recognise the contribution that volunteers make to communities in the NT.
The awards are an initiative of Volunteering SA&NT and are sponsored by the NT Government.
National Volunteer Week
National Volunteer Week celebrates volunteers and volunteerism in Australia. It provides an opportunity to highlight the crucial role of volunteers in supporting our community and encourages people to start volunteering.
NAIDOC Week
Held across Australia, NAIDOC Week celebrates and recognises the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The workforce promotion program will highlight first nations contribution in volunteering across the Northern Territory, especially in remote and regional areas.
