Local decision making and regional work plans

Local decision making provides Aboriginal people with more control over the decisions that affect them.

This includes input on services, based on their community’s aspirations and needs.

Find out more on the Local Decision Making website.

Regional work plans

Regional work plans have been established in partnership with Aboriginal Housing NT. These will act as a guide for HHIP in each region  for stage two of the program.

Consultation

The plans have been developed in consultation with:

  • relevant land councils
  • service providers
  • homelands residents
  • other regional key stakeholders.

The plans have been endorsed by the Joint Steering Committee for Remote Housing NT . This process acknowledges the unique land tenure, servicing and decision making arrangements for homelands.

What the work plans achieve

Each work plan will:

  • respond to key findings from the homelands housing and infrastructure audit
  • identify needs, issues and priorities regarding housing, municipal and essential infrastructure for homelands in each region
  • deliver urgent repairs and maintenance
  • explain the money story and set realistic expectations of the funding available
  • provide targeted works in response to investment priorities
  • involve regional stakeholders in their development
  • identify future works that are required.
