Jahdai is passionate about giving back to community and strengthening the social and emotional health and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. As an Indigenous Trainee and Project Officer at Menzies School of Health Research, Jahdai worked on a range of projects relating to gambling and social and emotional wellbeing before joining the Department of Health’s Suicide Prevention Team.
His hobbies include Muay Thai, camping and travelling. In 2021, Jahdai received the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year Award.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders are at high risk of suicide in remote communities and I think there is a need for youth to be more engaged with access to health services. I feel I’m an active community member and advocate for youth health and well-being and I want to be able to express my thoughts on social issues that impact our youth in the community.
