Sitting fees

We value your expertise and pay our members sitting fees for their participation during the in-person meetings.

The Office of Youth Affairs (OYA) covers the cost of the following:

  • all travel for members outside of the Darwin/Darwin rural region
  • accommodation
  • meals and meeting expenses for the four in-person meetings in Darwin and monthly online videoconferences

Additionally, members may be eligible for reasonable reimbursements as needed.

The only cost to you is your time and commitment to attend each meeting.

Meeting dates

At the meetings, members discuss important youth issues with peers, youth groups, service providers, and government representatives.

In addition to the 4 meetings, members are consulted for their feedback or input into a wide variety of policies and initiatives.

How applications are assessed

Applications are assessed by a selection panel consisting of OYA staff and a young person and should represent the geographical, cultural and ethnic diversity of the Territory.
