Who can apply

The round table program is open to all young people residing in the NT who are aged 15 to 25 years.

You must be at least 15 years of age on 1 January 2022.

Visa holders can be nominated as a potential round table member. Their visa must be current for the term of the appointment from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2022.

Membership may include young people from the 2021 round table and young people appointed through an open application process.

Sitting fees

We value your expertise and pay our members sitting fees for the face-to-face meetings.

The Office of Youth Affairs (OYA) covers:

  • all travel for members outside of the Darwin/Darwin rural region
  • accommodation
  • meals and meeting expenses for the four face-to-face meetings in Darwin and monthly videoconferences.

The only cost to you is your time and commitment to attend each meeting.

Reasonable reimbursements may also be covered for members.

Meeting dates

At the meetings, members discuss important youth issues with peers, youth groups, service providers, and government representatives.

Outside of the four meetings, members are approached for the feedback or input into a wide variety of policies and initiatives.

Proposed 2022 dates

  • meeting 1: 5 to 6 March
  • meeting 2: 4 to 5 June
  • meeting 3: 3 to 4 September
  • meeting 4: 3 to 4 December.

How applications are assessed

Applications are assessed by a selection panel made up of OYA staff and a young person.

Panel members should represent the geographical, cultural and ethnic diversity of the Territory.
